Diamond Specialists
We are keen to introduce the client to the concept of the 5 Cs when selecting their diamond. The 5 Cs refer to the Carat, Clarity, Colour, Cut and Confidence. Traditionally Confidence is not included in this concept but SP Green firmly believe that the client must have confidence in their jeweller before completing any potential design or purchase.
Carat
A diamond's weight is represented in carats. Carat is a measurement of weight as opposed to size. Weight impacts the price most dramatically out of the various diamond characteristics.
Clarity
Diamond clarity refers to inclusions which internally flaw the diamonds structure. Such imperfections are graded under 10x magnification which is the standard to grade diamond clarity. A diamond with fewer inclusions is both rarer and more desired which makes it also more expensive.
IF
Internally flawless
VVS1, VVS2
Extremely difficult to see inclusion under 10x magniication. VVS1 is slightly cleaner than VVS2
VS1, VS2
Minor inclusions only visible under 10x magnification. VS1 is slightly cleaner than VS2
SI1, SI2
Inclusions easy to see under 10x magnification but usually not visible with the nake eye. SI1 is slightly cleaner than SI2
I1
Inclusions visible with the naked eye.
Colour
Colour refers to the colour of any diamond to the naked eye. Diamond colour is based on a spectrum ranging from D to Z with D being colourless and Z being light yellow.
Cut
Diamond Cut relates not only to the shape of the diamond you may choose but also the symmetry of the cutting process. A diamond of a high quality cut is ultimately far superior to a poorly cut diamond. S.P. Green only use diamonds of the highest standards and a high quality cut is assured.
Confidence
As previously stated, S.P. Green & Co. Ltd. believe it is imperative for the customer to have confidence in their jeweller when looking to purchase diamonds.
